Some of them went back to Ukraine. Some of them are working here in Poland and trying to set up
their lives. But some of them are still in deep trauma, they need strong psychological support. All
this has serious influence on economic situation in Poland.
What is BPW Poland involvement in this situation?
Most our members were privately involved in help to the Ukrainians (mostly women and children).
All our services were provided on volunteer basis.
We were arranging all kinds of accommodation for many families, buying them necessary equip-
ment, arranging education for children, finding jobs for mothers.
Later we were getting some financial support and the Board of BPW Poland undertook initiative for
long run activities based on the following THREE PILLARS:
Empathy = Charity,
Education for future = Art Education,
Business & Professional = Education for Qualifications/Entrepreneurship.
We are in the process of working on these issues now.
A lot of children are already attending the school classes. We are arranging the workshops for the
teachers, psychologists - to show them how to use the art therapy to help children, to give them
psychological support, especially for PSTD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) cases. This is com-
pletely new experience, no European country has ever up taken such a problem. Our achieve-
ments in this area are passed on in a professional way to others. Our know-how how to work
with technics of art-therapy on the basis of daily routine mainly young people works well.
Just as an example:
We have19 pupils from Ballet School in Poznań who definitely need help. We provided courses,
for them to attend supplying necessary accessories for their work.
In order to make women more independent we enrol them on driving courses, if necessary.
For start-ups we are going ahead with purchases of necessary equipment as well as courses to
obtain qualifications in order to help them to set up their own businesses.
We are very proud of our BPW members who systematically give support and service to war ref-
ugees in our country.
Sadly, we will not be able to pursue many additional activities without financial help of other or-
ganisations, charities, companies and private sponsors as we running out of funds. We would like
to add that as BPW members of Poland we feel very grateful for the money already received which
we are happy to account for. Thank you for all your support. ◼
