By Mariella Camilleri, President, BPW (Valletta) Malta
In recent weeks I had the opportunity and the pleasure of traveling to two coun-
tries to promote the European Regional Conference and Young Symposium which will
be hosted by BPW (Malta) in May 2025. The backdrop of the Conference will be the City
of Valletta, but for these two presentations the backdrops were the City of Bristol and the
City of Rome.
This was my very first visit to the City of Bristol, where I was invited by President
Jo Kinsey to attend BPW UK’s Annual General Meeting and Conference – Women Flying
High. All my expectations were exceeded not only by the great welcome I received from
all BPW UK’s members present but also from people in general. I was made to feel as if I
was one of the family. Not only making new acquaintances, but more importantly seeing
old friends.
The conference was extremely interesting, eye opening and empowering! The
speakers engaged were highly informative and engaging with the audience. I was very
excited to be able to have an opportunity to present to everyone present an overview of
what Malta has to offer. The sights, the sea, the food and the lifestyle. I had the pleasure
to present not only information about Malta but more importantly videos of what one can
experience when they come to Malta.
The historical World Heritage Sights include the oldest temples that one can experi-
ence first-hand at close proximity, older than Stonehenge, older than the Pyramids,
in fact they are more than 8,000 years old.
The underwater landscape of Malta, with some of the most beautiful dive sights one
can imagine, the beaches, the sandy beaches around the archipelago of Islands as
well as some not too sandy!
In fact, my presentation also highlighted the food of Malta. Made from fresh pro-
duce grown on the Island, with influences from around the mediterranean as well as
the history of Malta, accompanied by Maltese Wines made from Vineyards with lus-
cious grapes which have and continue to produce award winning wines (not just lo-
cally but internationally recognized organizations and connoisseurs!)
But we did not forget, the lifestyle and nightlife in Malta! There is something for
everyone, young and young at heart!
