Lobbying and Advocacy, a guide from BPW Europe & EWL

Miette will be guiding BPW UK by discussing the two motions we have adopted, Human
Rights and Misogyny, and how to lobby with guidance from BPW Europe and EWL.

Miette Dechelle is currently representing BPW Europe in EWL as Board Member (2021-
2023). She is a Member of BPW Waregem in Belgium.

Miette became a BPW Member in 2009. At that time, she was already working on EU con-
sultations for BPW Europe to support BPW Europe Coordinator, Amélie Leclercq. In 2011,
she was Young BPW Europe Representative and Member of the ECC (European Coordina-
tion Committee). She set up the first Young BPW Symposium in Lille. She also worked on
raising awareness on lobbying aimed at members and ran several workshops on this top-
ic. In 2015, she did a series of interviews as presenter for Astute Radio on Women in EU
Politics. She was also EU Policy Advisor to the ECC to inform on EU policies and actions
related to women’s issues.

In her current function as EWL Board Member for BPW Europe, her objective is to
strengthen cooperation, increasing reciprocal visibility and understanding of the work of
EWL and BPW Europe.

She has a European background. She obtained a Master’s degree at the University of St
Andrews and an equivalent degree at the European College of Parma.
In her everyday job, Miette is H&S Manager for a European Trade Association in Brussels,
called CEMBUREAU, the European Cement Association. She has 13 years of experience
and expertise in EU public affairs.
