In 2020, Iceland experienced a 40% increase in night-life crimes creating an
unsafe environment for young women. A prevention program has been intro-
duced to eliminate sexual assault crimes in the partying scenes.
The Prime Minister mentioned that Gender Equality Education has also been
introduced in the Primary and Secondary Schools’ Curriculum where students
find a safe space to speak up, making Gender Equality not only for women
and girls but also for men and boys.
