Since he took office, President Trump has called the news media
“The Enemy of the People.” Today, the tables have apparently turned on the president. An administration source reported to The New York Times that President Trump is now “The Enemy of the Family” after his family failed to show up for Christmas festivities at the White House.
The president’s wife Melania, son Barron, her parents and the rest of the Trump clan went to Mar-a-Lago last Thursday, expecting him to join them the next day. When the president faced a government shutdown and then allowed it to happen at midnight on Friday, he cancelled his Florida trip.
The initial response from the first lady’s office was that the Trump family would fly back to Washington over the weekend so they could all celebrate Christmas together.
On Christmas day, the president found himself alone in the White House. No one arrived. The White House Christmas tree was dark because Federal Forest Service employees responsible for maintaining it were furloughed as a result of the shutdown.
In a tweet Christmas morning, the president whined, “Poor me, I am so alone.”
In a rare tweet by Mrs. Trump, the first lady responded, “Aleluja” which means “hallelujah” in Slovenian.
