President Trump held a rare Q&A today with reporters who peppered him with questions on a variety of topics. Here’s a sampling:
Mr. President, your response to the North Korean missile tests?
“Nobody’s happy about it. But we’re taking a good look, and we’ll see, we’ll see. We’ll see what happens. We can’t have that. We can’t have that. It’s very much like China.”
Do you have plans to talk to President Xi?
“He just wrote me a beautiful letter. I just received it. Beautiful words all about me, and how he loved watching The Apprentice. It was his favorite show. We are doing fantastically well. Xi and me. Me and Xi.”
Will you allow Robert Mueller to testify to Congress?
“Well, I’m leaving that to my very great attorney general lawyer. Barr will make the very best decision because nobody in history has been more transparent than me. My administration is an open book. I have no secrets, except 12 that are.... I say, give anyone anything they want, anytime they want it. I don’t have to do any of this, but I am because
I am the open-book president.”
Do you have feelings for Robert Mueller?
“Yes, of course. He is no friend of mine. We had conflicts and a business dispute. He is in love with James Comey. We like James Comey. They were very good friends, I mean best friends. Maybe more. We’ll see. Comey is a liar and a leaker. Mueller wanted the FBI job and when he didn’t get it, he became the special counsel. That’s a conflict. We had other things, but those are tremendous conflicts.”
