MAY 12, 2019 BREAKING NEWS
Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced this morning that President Trump is revamping the country’s annual Fourth of July celebration this year. He tagged oil lobbyist and interior secretary David Bernhardt as official event planner, but sources inside the White House reported that Mr. Trump is obsessed with managing every detail, down to the words on the back of Melania’s jacket.
While some plans are still in flux, the president has approved several changes that are already in progress:
•No one has ever outclassed New York City on Fourth of July fireworks. Its annual display is the largest in the country, followed by San Diego, Seattle, Boston, Philadelphia and San Francisco. This year, the president has banned all fireworks in New York and all cities around the country because “100% of the focus will be on the president and Washington, D.C.,” Sanders disclosed.
•The July 4th fireworks display has been held on the National Mall for the past 15 years. However, this year, the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan (CVN-76), a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, will stage the fireworks on the Potomac River. Currently, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is dredging the river in order to enable the carrier’s safe passage up the river. Three major bridges that cross the waterway will be temporarily dismantled: the American Legion Memorial Bridge, Theodore Roosevelt Bridge and Woodrow Wilson
