During his KFC and Coke dinner today, President Trump tweeted,
“I promised YOU I would not take a dime of salary as your President. I donate the entire $400,000!”
When press secretary Kayleigh McEnemy was contacted for comment, she replied, “The President has kept more promises than any president in history, so you can take the veracity of his tweet to the bank.
No president has been a better custodian of taxpayer money than President Trump.”
According to John Yarmuth, Chairman of the House Committee on
the Budget, “It is simply mindboggling to watch the president take
with one tiny hand and pretend to give with the other. Mr. Trump is
not only living in the lap of luxury, he is savoring every minute,
courtesy of the American taxpayer. He has not disclosed one charitable recipient of his “donated” salary.”
As of February 18, 2020, the president had racked up 248 golf outings at an estimated taxpayer expense of $138,000,000. The precise amount is likely much higher because several expenses associated with his trips are classified, not identified or not captured.
