This morning, president Trump lashed out at Goodyear Tires on Twitter, “Don’t buy GOODYEAR TIRES – They announced a BAN ON MAGA HATS. Get better tires for far less! (This is what the Radical Left Democrats do. Two can play the same game, and we have to start playing it now!).”
Goodyear prohibits political expressions and campaigning for any political party in the workplace. Not persuaded, Trump accused the company of “playing politics” and claimed that he polled “very well” with its “great workers.”
When Trump was advised that The Beast, his presidential limousine rides on Goodyear tires, he vowed to “swap them out” for another brand. Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. is the only other company that manufactures tires in the U.S., but not exclusively. Some Cooper tires are made in China and Mexico so the Secret Service will have its hands full searching for an alternative brand that meets the president’s “America First” trade requirements.
Another option is to ferry the president around in an M1 Abrams tank (M1A1), which is made in America. The M1A1’s top speed is 42 mph. Its range is 264 miles and it weighs 60 tons. It is the least fuel efficient of any vehicle on earth, guzzling 60 gallons of gas per hour when traveling cross-country and 10 gallons per hour when idle.
