In every case, the president and his staff called the accusations “totally ridiculous,” “wrong, wrong, wrong,” “false,” “phony,” “lack any merit or veracity,” “never happened!” “totally false and ridiculous,” “totally lying,” “she’s not my type,” among other emphatic denials. In two cases, $280,000 in hush money was paid to silence adult film star Stormy Daniels, and former Playboy model Karen McDougal.
In 2015, his ex-wife Ivana Trump used “rape” to describe a violent assault by him in 1989 when they were married. Trump had gone to her plastic surgeon and underwent a painful scalp reduction surgery to remove a bald spot. The experience so infuriated Trump that he reportedly screamed at Ivana, “Your fucking doctor ruined me!”
A physical assault followed in which Trump pulled out fistfuls of her hair, tore off her clothes and unzipped his pants. Readers can employ their imagination or guess the conclusion of the story.
Attorney Michael Cohen defended Trump at the time saying,
“You cannot rape your spouse. There’s very clear case law.” Ivana
later retracted her characterization of the incident, presumably
because she initiated divorce proceedings shortly thereafter. In 1992, her final divorce settlement included $14 million, a 45-room Connecticut mansion, an apartment in Trump Plaza on New York City’s Upper East Side, and the use of Mar-a-Lago one month per year.
