Design Brief - Karim Rashid
Designer Bio
Canadian-Egyptian designer, focuses on luxury
goods, packaging, lighting and furniture. Karim has over 300
awards in the industry and 4000 designs in production.
Karim thinks of himself as a ‘sensual minamilist’.
Karim grew up surrounded by creativity, his father worked as a
painter and a clothing designer, and his brother an architect.
Karim studied in Milan, Naples and the US. Karim worked
alongside Geatano Pesce, Achille Castiliogi and Ettore
Soittass. He also designed for FIAT, La Gimbali and iGuzzini.
minor design project Known for his extravegant use of colour. He uses vibrant
colours to bring his products to life. Rashid wants his work to
make the user feel ALIVE.
Karim designed luxurious goods, furniture, industrial
products such as kitchens and kitchen appliances for
Goranje, along with lighting design. I am really inspired by
his work for Gorenje and the Kollage.
Karim uses almost every material in his work ,from
Glass, Polypropylene, Ceramics and Alloys.
Embracing sustainability is imprtant to Karims work.
