This project aimed to explore how interaction design principles could support the sustainable
growth of social enterprises in Ireland. Looking back, I believe the final outcome does answer
the research question and meets the main objectives. The redesigned SERI website helps to
reduce barriers to collaboration, offers a clear and structured resource hub, and creates a more
welcoming space for social enterprises. Feedback from users confirmed that the hypothesis
was correct—the new design supports navigation, peer connection, and sustainable growth.
Working with a real brand added complexity. While it made the project more realistic and
meaningful, it also required extra steps like a brand audit and waiting for feedback, which didn’t
always align with the project timeline. Still, I learned a lot through that process, especially by
exploring tools like Google Analytics and to understand the website’s current use.
The project also gave me space to try new ideas. I took some creative liberties with the Resource
Hub layout, focusing on the user journey rather than a traditional format. However, I now see
that the scope may have been too broad. If I had focused only on the resource section, I could
have developed it more deeply. There are also practical limitations to consider—keeping links
up to date, maintaining structure, and managing evolving content can be difficult for small
teams.
Another challenge was learning Figma during the project. This slowed the process at times
but ultimately improved my skills. Life doesn’t always follow the plan, and I had to adapt my
process as I went along. Even with those hurdles, I’m proud of the result and how it reflects
both user needs and SERI’s mission. It’s rewarding to know the project has the potential to
make a real impact. THANK YOU
