The Workshop At SETU, you have the privilege of accessing one of the finest design workshops
available. This state-of-the-art environment is not just a facility but a creative
sanctuary where ideas materialise into tangible realities. Here, each tool and
space is a stepping stone towards innovation, offering you endless possibilities
to explore and refine your design skills.
Dress Code
To maintain safety and professionalism in our workshop, adhere to
the following dress code: Entry requires wearing a lab coat and safety
glasses. In the spray room, a face mask is essential. For your safety, shorts
and open-toed shoes are prohibited, and long hair must be securely tied
up. This attire ensures your protection and helps maintain a safe working
environment for everyone.
Be Organised
Maximise your productivity and learning by coming well-prepared for
each workshop session. Since workshop time is a valuable part of your
studies, please bring your sketches and prototypes ready for discussion
and feedback. This preparation not only ensures effective use of the
limited time available but also enhances the quality of guidance you
receive, making each session as beneficial as possible.
Attendance
Attendance is key to your success and safety in our workshop. If you miss
two consecutive classes, it’s crucial to reassess your familiarity with our
safety protocols. Therefore, you’ll need to complete a safety assessment
with our technician before you can rejoin the workshop activities. This
process ensures everyone’s safety and keeps your skills sharp.
Etiquette
In our workshop, once class starts, please remain present unless you
have permission from staff to leave. Engaging fully with the session and
our resources maximises your learning opportunities. As we conclude,
everyone contributes to tidying up. This includes putting all equipment
back, sweeping floors, and setting stools on worktables, ensuring our
space is prepared for creativity to thrive again the next day.
Use Of Technology
Capturing photos and videos of your work is encouraged to document
your progress and share your creative journey. However, please refrain
from using headphones while working. Staying alert and aware of your
environment is crucial for your safety and our collaborative spirit.
Rapid Prototyping
In our workshop, equipped with 3D printers, laser cutters, and CNC
machines, we embrace rapid prototyping as a vital step in the design
process. These tools help you translate your innovative concepts into
tangible, testable models, enriching your understanding of design
solutions. Remember, these technologies are not shortcuts but tools
to enhance your exploratory phase, allowing you to iterate quickly and
refine your ideas deeply before finalising your designs.
