Market Update Project
This project, being the first one of the year, proved to be a challenge at first. Once I got into it and began to understand it,
it became so much more enjoyable. I was intimidated by the inner workings of the hand mixer at first, as I’d never dealt with
anything of that calibre before. As well as this, engineering and the like are not my strong suit.
I remember it taking me a while to decide on the changes I wanted to make to the product, as there were many flaws noted.
The model making was also tedious as the product itself was quite large. The creation of this product on Solidworks also proved
to be a challenge, and I ended up finishing the whole thing within the last week (with many restarts and different attempts).
Trying to recreate the original model’s finish was also a long process, and I unfortunately made a small mistake within the last
few hours, involving my fingertips and paint that was not yet dry.
If I were to redo this project, I would try to speed up the selection process at the beginning, and start my Solidworks model earlier
on during the project. I would also ensure to be 100% certain that my product’s paint is dry the next time.
Hacking COVID Project
This project was one that I knew I would like, right from the beginning. Straight away when I heard that we were to be working
with somebody else on this, I was excited. I already had somebody in mind when I read the brief.
I remember having carried out this project relatively well, and allocated just the right amount of time to each section of the
project. I also enjoyed this project as it encouraged us to get out and work with people who may not be designers. It was good
to have somebody with a different approach to the project working on it as well.
If I were to redo this project, I would have delivered the presentation for it in a better, stronger manner. I remember not being
100& prepared for it, and I would have liked to have been so if i had a chance to redo it.
Crude Design Project
This project was another project which I enjoyed doing from the very beginning. However, I had a lot of research to do for it,
and a lot of content to condense into a few boards. I struggled at first, with laying all this content out correctly and effectively.
For this project, we were required to build a 3D model on Solidworks, instead of using the workshop. This was due to time
constraints, as it was nearing the very end of the year and we had to wrap it up. Allocating time better would definitely be a
correction for the whole class, if we were required to do this project again.
