The production process
of the new material is currently still manual and only designed for small quantities.
This can be transferred to an industrial process without much effort.
The manual steps are very time-consuming in the first steps, which is then compensa-
ted for by the steps in the laboratory; most of the time is needed in the drying phase.
The drying phase takes between 3-5 days.
The first step starts with the leather, there is no need to pay attention to the size or
thickness. Any leather can be used. The second step, shredding the leather, is a preli-
minary work for the third step, which is done with a commercial kitchen shredder.
After that, the remaining four manufacturing steps are carried out in the laboratory.
The fourth step is to heat water at the same time and make it rotate. Then, little by
little, special types of glyceryl and gelatine are stirred in and, as the last step, the
different leather is added, mixed and poured into the mould. Then it‘s just a matter of
waiting for the material to dry and be ready for use.
