For me
it was an experience I would repeat anytime. I learned a lot about analytical steps, plus I was able to work in areas I
had never worked in before, like in the biochemistry lab. Also, thanks to the projects and the teaching methods, I was
able to gain a different view of the profession of a designer and I walk through the world of design with a more open
and free mind.
01 SolidWorks 3D Print Project
was a good exercise to refresh knowledge of all the basic functions of SolidWorks. It was
also very exciting to build a product in which you are completely free in the outer shape.
Then you had to keep the tolerances for the 3D printer exactly in order to be able to as-
semble it at the end. After the assembly, it was sanded and painted to obtain a finished
model. For me it was a perfect exercise for a real product manufacturing process and the
following projects.
02 Red Dot Design Award
I already know from the theoretical lessons. I have never rebuilt any of the products in
SolidWorks. The first challenge was to assess myself and choose the right products. Then
to research the dimensions and the important features, which proved to be very difficult
for many products. I was also very surprised that the products that looked the easiest were
the most difficult to build. I learned that one should not be fooled by the appearance of a
product and how complex it can be to design a simple product and to build and design it
perfectly.
