 Definition: announcement is a text of meaningful notice of facts, events, or intentions.
 Generic structure:
1. Title or type of event
2. Explanation ( receiver, date/time,place and sender)
 Language Feature of Announcement:
1. Using simple present tense and simple future tense.
- Simple present : S + V1 + O (verba)
S + tobe (is,am,are) + Complement (nomina)
- Simple future : S + will/shall + V1+ O atau S + am,is,are + going to + V1 + O
2. Using exact noun (specific noun)
3. Pronunciation and Intonation (spoken announcement)
4. Spelling and Punctuation
 Purpose: the purpose of announcement is to information us what has happened or what will
happen.
 Kinds of Announcement :
An announcement divides into written announcement and spoken announcement.
Spoken Announcement
The characteristic are:
1. Usually begins with saying “attention, please” or anything like that.
2. We can find a spoken announcement when teacher call chief of the students or when
there is an event in the school, in the market, train station, bus station, airport, sport stadium,
etc.
3. The information is short and simple.
