On Friday, January 11, 2019, the United States Army said goodbye to Chief
Warrant Officer 4 Josie Renee Nelson Evans. CW4 Evans retired from the Army
after giving 23 years of exemplary and selfless service. The ceremony took place
in the Bob Jones Auditorium located in the Sparkman Center on Redstone
Arsenal. By all accounts, CW4 Evans was a dynamic leader and the epitome of a
model soldier. She received numerous accolades to include commendations from
the Army Materiel Command’s 4-star General, Gustave Perna.
In attendance for this momentous occasion were her husband, CW5 Julian
Evans, children, mother, other family members, friends, church members,
sorority sisters, fellow soldiers and even AIT battle buddies. The emotion-filled
retirement ceremony included a video that offered a brief glimpse into her life as
a soldier. The poignant images swelled hearts with pride and eyes with tears. At
the conclusion of the ceremony, the guests formed a receiving line to congratulate
the newly retired CW4 Evans. A reception with heavy Hors d'Oeuvres and cake
appropriately decorated with the American flag followed.
Well done thy good and faithful servant – well done! You are a living testimony
and Epsilon Gamma Omega Chapter is fortunate to have you amongst our
ranks. Congratulations on your retirement. We are so proud of you and are
grateful for your service and sacrifice!
