Secondary April 2022 Welcome Message 03
Welcome Message
Dear Parents, Students and Colleagues,
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the April 2022 edition of the Park Lane Press.
As you read through the pages that follow, I am sure you will be amazed to see how productive and creative our students have been over the course of the past few months. This is all the more remarkable given the Covid restrictions and challenging circumstances that our staff and students were working under for the majority of the time.
However, the loosening of restrictions has allowed Park Lane to spread its wings once
again and allowed us to put on those community, cultural and celebratory events that have always been such a central feature of the school. In January, we saw the return of our annual PLISMUN conference, and the school proudly welcomed students from across Prague, the Czech Republic and other countries to come together for political debate. In the past few months our Key Stage 3 students have also been treated to an amazing display of individual musical talent in our Matinée Classic, whilst our Year 13 Art students put on a hugely impressive exhibition of their work, which was open to members of the community and general public.
You can also read in this edition of the PLP, about how we have been busy preparing,
planning and discussing our new IB Diploma Centre that will be opening in September. This has involved staff and student teams, looking at both the internal building design and the creation of some beautiful and relaxing outside spaces for our Key Stage 5 students. We are all extremely excited to get into the new building and to give the students a space which is both inspirational and specifically designed with them and their learning needs in mind.
The recent crisis in Ukraine has also been a timely reminder for us as a school, of the importance of our core values of tolerance, respect and understanding. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those in our community, students, staff and parents, for the ways that they have come together to offer support in whichever ways they have been able.
Best wishes, Paul Churchill
