Secondary December 2022 Welcome Message 03
Welcome Message
Dear Parents, Carers, Students and Colleagues,
Welcome to the December 2022 edition of the Park Lane Press.
As usual, we have been very busy over the past few months, and our students have been both working hard whilst having the chance to take part in the many varied activities and events that have been on offer this term. Alongside the students, our new staff have made a positive start, and have proved themselves to be great additions to an already amazing team.
In this issue of the PLP you can see how our students, amongst other things, have developed their trigonometry skills in Maths, their knowledge of astrophysics, and their poetry appreciation skills in Czech. Speaking of poetry, we celebrated the Grand Opening of the new library at Úvoz with a Poetry Café, which featured a special guest poet, Mr. Ash Dickinson, and some very thought provoking staff and student poetry readings. Our students enjoyed
a stimulating and creative trip to the Cheltenham Literature Festival, and participated in the WROCMUN conference - great experience as we prepare to host our own PLISMUN conference in January. What has been particularly rewarding, has been the feedback that we have received about our students being such great ambassadors for the school.
Finally, you will also have the opportunity to read the enthusiastic reflections from our IB students about life at the new Úvoz campus, and hear from one of our alumni from the Class of 2022, who has gone on to study Computer Science at the University of Oxford after leaving Park Lane.
All in all, there has been a lot to celebrate and be proud of, in what has been a period of growth and development. As we say farewell to 2022, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful and relaxing break.
Best wishes,
Paul Churchill
Head of Secondary School
