“I thought so, I told her the same thing before I advised her to jump your
bones.” I laugh despite the subject.
“You do not beat around the bush. What makes you so sure about me?” “I can
tell you care. That is worth its weight in gold.”
“Really? I just figured that out about an hour ago when I dropped her off at

the airport.”
“Because you two are slow. My dear.” “Let me guess, she didn’t believe you.”
“Nope, she is as stubborn as her father. She called me from the airport and told
me what your boss did. I’m free tomorrow. I can stop by and curse him out if you’d
like.”
I laughed a genuine laugh. “You are quite the Momma Bear.”
“I am.” She laughs with me. “I have faith that you can make my child happy.
Don’t kill that faith. Got it?”
I nod. “Yes, ma’am. Loud and clear.”
“Now, get to work,” she commands. “And, Henri?” “Yes?”
“If you happen to accidently trip Teo or punch him in the face. It would be
greatly appreciated.”
“I would love nothing more.”

Gail is gone after a quick goodbye. I shift my focus and verify that I have
everything ready for the trip. Like Sanya, I move everything by the door. My plan
is to stay up late and work, pack the SUV with my luggage in the morning, get there
early, and fly out on the 1 PM flight. Satisfied, I finish my food, and after a nice,
warm shower, I boot my computer ready to get to work.
My phone vibrates again.
Sanya: I made it. Our room is BEAUTIFUL!
My stomach flips in anticipation. This time tomorrow, I’ll be with her again.
Hopefully falling into bed. Sanya attached a selfie of her with the room in the
background. It is a beach cottage theme with soft blues, tans, and whites. The bed
looks plush and inviting. I fight off a wave of sadness. I could have been there with
her getting ready for bed if that fuck wad wasn’t being such a dick. I quash the
feelings
Henri: That’s good to hear. I’m over here working. That is a nice room.
Sanya: Can’t wait for you to see it in person.
Henri: Me either, I’m gonna get back to work. Goodnight sweetheart.
