I and my groom, Johnny Foster, were classmates. This wedding was named for Tom Thumb, a dwarf in the P. T. Barnum Circus,
who married Lavinia Warren in an elaborate ceremony in Manhattan in 1863.
Churches and various organizations later held Tom Thumb weddings as youth activities and fundraisers. These weddings were
also used to teach wedding and fashion etiquette, and to support valuable causes for youth. My mom is in the back row.
