CHAPTER 9
MY PASSION
I
had such passion for Tajiri Arts, the gifted instructors, the talented students, and the inspired parents who would assist me. I
worked double duty and so did my team. I soon realized that passion required something more of me.
Passion = Sacrifice
Note to All Dreamers: Think and plan! Never use your household funds to make purchases for costumes, set
designs, or to provide live music. Did I make that mistake? Yes, I did. I was famous for Thinking Big with No
Money! Fortunately, Seminole Community College assisted us financially with all of the performances that we
held at their college. We became a professional company because of their monetary support.
Classes taught had to be professional. I believed I needed additional instructors beside myself. Thus, I invited
Mrs. Levather Whitby to become a permanent instructor of the Primary Division of 3 to 8-year old children.
Puppetry, Storytelling, and Costume Design were her initial contributions. Mrs. Patricia McMiller was also a
permanent instructor after our first production. Sign Language was her specialty.
The next challenge was how to pay an honorarium to the instructors. No planning once again ‒ a Big Mistake!
