They accepted His death, but couldn't accept the promise of resurrection. Death
was a reality they were all too familiar with. Coming back from the dead however
required a faith they had not yet grown into... but were about to!
"Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary
Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb.
And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord
descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the
door, and sat on it.
His countenance was like lightning, and his
clothing as white as snow.
And guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men.
But the angel answered and said to the women
'do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified."'

Mary Magdalene was the first to hear the Good News...
"He is not here; for He has Risen."
Matt 28:6
This is the same Mary who stood by Jesus as He died on the cross and saw Him
buried in a borrowed tomb. This was the same woman whom Jesus had cast seven
demons out of (Luke 8:2), who never forgot the terrible torment Jesus had freed
her from. She was compelled to seek Him one more time! Gratitude brought her to
the tomb that fateful morning, never realizing what she would hear and ultimately
see! Her joy must have been overwhelming as she ran to tell His disciples what she
had just heard. He has Risen; Jesus was no longer dead, but alive! And as she went
to declare the Good News...
"Jesus met them, saying rejoice!'
So they came and held Him by the feet and worshipped Him."
