There is a clear difference between me and you. You take pride in a statue, a “democracy” too, And broad stripes and bright stars.
That’s not what I do.
I turn the news on in horror of what I see.
I know that this is what this country has come to be. I cannot just sit back and live carefree.
A land of racism, sexism, and ageism galore. People with minds full of worries and fears of war. This is not what my country should stand for.
See while you talk about celebrities, I discuss events.
I keep track of our government. You can’t even name our presidents.
You have not realized we are no longer what that statue represents.
You don’t see the great faults in our country, you never disagree.
I look back and think about what being American was supposed to be.
That is the difference between you and me.
