We march
Shoulder to shoulder
A wall becomes visible
The zone where the front begins Air becomes smoke
Fumes taste bitter
Guns roar and boom
Red rockets shoot in the sky Cries are heard
Screams penetrate
We fear death
And we shiver
Then he stifles his terror
And faces change imperceptibly Men become thick skinned
A sharpening of the senses
The animal
Is awakened within us
