Embrace Our New Beginning
As we embark on a new beginning, we must cleanse our souls. If God permitted the virus to occur, we must con- sider that the ordeal we have gone through together was God’s test to determine our resilience in a crisis and our ability to reenter society pledging to be more emotionally and spiritually connected to one another.
We must pray daily and ask God, the Creator of the universe and of our souls, to protect us, our families, co- workers, everyone in our lives and anyone who crosses our path. Consider saying the prayer at the end of this chapter (no matter what your religion may be).
When We Help Others, We Help Ourselves and the World
With the prayer below flowing through us, we can face each day with confidence and peace, knowing that we will withstand and overcome every test and challenge that God places before us. We must also understand that although we may not clearly see God’s purpose, at first, everything is happening for the best.
As we go about our day with social-distancing practices and other hygienic rules, we must not negate social inter- action, but instead, remember to express appreciation for those around us by holding doors for people, expressing pleasantries (such as “please” and “thank you”), and being concerned about others’ welfare.
One important lesson that the virus has taught us is to look within and ask the question, “what can I give?” in- stead of “what can I get?” When we help others, we inevi- tably work toward the good of everyone—including our-
