14 • TLC—For the Workplace
Look to History—God’s intention is to show us that, throughout time, we are not alone. History repeats itself, and periods of illness—just like times of prosperity—come and go like warm summer breezes and chill winter frosts.
All of us are susceptible to life’s varying patterns and changes, and the true test of our resilience and persistence is how we react to adversity—despite the obstacles.
Examine these scenes from times past and think about how we can change our practices—not only in the time of a pandemic—to make our old habits of greed, envy, hate, hostility and judgmentalism disappear. No one is immune. All of us are in this life together.
Since the beginning of time, humankind
has gone through many territorial, religious, and ideo- logical wars between nations. In just over a century, we have been through two world wars that destroyed count- less cities, states, provinces, and entire countries, as peo- ple have died in the fight for freedom. God never tolerates such misplaced and misguided action. As we evaluate our current circumstances, we realize that our present enemy, COVID-19, has managed to destroy our way of life without a single weapon of mass destruction. The loss of life has been astonishing, along with the economic toll we have had to endure. Most of all, the coronavirus has robbed us of the pleasure of expressing affection to our loved ones, friends, and colleagues in the form of hugs and kisses or just a simple smile to show affection and compassion for each other. What a tremendous emotional deficit we have suffered! However, as we work together and patiently fol- low guidelines and protocols, we will return to a world of love, peace, harmony, and renewed strength. Every trial is a growing experience, and if we do things properly, we will emerge stronger than ever. Amen.
