Create a Splash/Sneeze Guard Safety Barrier—
The virus is transmitted by sustained human contact and the transfer of human droplets produced from sneez- ing or coughing. Therefore, whenever you visit hotels, shop for groceries, pick up prescriptions at pharmacies, interact with cashiers, or go to any place of business, you may notice the installation of plexiglass barriers to ensure the safety of patrons. The barriers prevent the transmis- sion of
bodily fluids. At all times, cough or sneeze into
your elbow, making sure to completely cover your nose and mouth to avoid the transfer of germs.
Monitor Temperatures—In places of business, it is important to monitor temperatures, when possible, par- ticularly in areas where there is close human contact or food preparation. One of the most common symptoms as- sociated with COVID-19 is fever. A temperature over 99 degrees Fahrenheit is, in most cases, considered above normal.
Avoid Any Form of Touching—As human beings, we have a natural tendency to reach out and express our- selves with a handshake, an approving slap on the shoul- der, or similar gestures. At least for now, these types of socially acceptable “BC” forms of physical interaction can be harmful. Therefore, respect each other’s space by re- fraining from any form of physical human contact.
Clean Surfaces Thoroughly—After touching any surfaces, everyone should be mindful of surface-cleaning. Depending on the type of surface, COVID-19 can live from a few hours up to several days. Soap and water seem to be the best cleansing agents, even more than hand sanitizer. The most significant consideration is to be vigilant and wash countertops and other areas most susceptible to use.
