How do I know which information is confidential?
Confidential information comes in many forms. It includes information that, if improperly disclosed, could be used to the advantage of a competitor and harmful to the company and its customers. For example, salaries, earnings, inventory / financial forecasts, business plans and strategies, potential acquisitions, pricing, sales information, research findings, strategic marketing and promotional information, and significant management changes, would all qualify as “confidential information.” If you are unsure which information is confidential, discuss it with your immediate superior.

A client/supplier/third party provider we’ve been doing business with sent our department food for us to share. Can we keep it?
Food received and shared by a department is usually considered reasonable and customary, especially during the holiday season. However, if we are currently in negotiations with that client/supplier/ third party service provider, it might not be prudent to accept that gift. Always consider the specific circumstances and whether your impartiality could be compromised or appear to others to be compromised.
