Page 291 - Knack Knots You Need
P. 291
This quick and easy knot, used to attach a swivel to a
fishing line, is not as secure as more intricate knots, but
for lighter lines and smaller species it works well. In the
years before prepackaged foods, a similarly tied knot was
used to hold the mouth of a sack closed—and was called,
appropriately, the sack-binding knot or bag-binding knot.
The swivel knot has been listed in knot books dating back
more than fifty years.

Since monofilament fishing line doesn’t float and
is virtually invisible in water, it might entangle fish
and mammals if cut and left to sink.
