u3a Events
We are familiar with Events from our Site Builder websites but the way they are
used in SiteWorks is a little different. The layouts are different but the main
difference is the ability to link them to more detailed information and/or to draw
attention to them on other pages.
At migration time your Events list will need to be populated from scratch if you
are, for instance, a new u3a that will have an empty Starter site. If you are
migrating your Site Builder site to Siteworks then the Events will be included
within that migration. Like u3a Venues, u3a Contacts, and u3a Groups your
Migrator will assist with this initially but in the future when you are editing and
maintaining your own site you will be doing it yourself, so it’s good to learn about
it now.
All Events
Select ‘u3a Events’ on your Dashboard and you will see that you can view all
events, add a new event, or edit event categories. We’ll look at each of these in
turn but don’t forget that you can edit some things in site mode. In this case you
can add a new event in the same way you can from the Dashboard menu.
If we view all events then what is on the screen can be found at the top of the
next page. Our training demo site has seven events showing. Note that at least
one of the Events has already taken place and at least one is quite far in the
future. Some of these are Speaker events for the monthly meeting and others
are outings or workshops.
In real life there are likely to be very many more events listed. For a longer list
you might wish to organise what you are seeing. There are two filters above the
event items. One enables you to filter by event category and the other by group
so you can see which group is organising that particular event.
