No longer able to meet face to face they needed a new way
to communicate with their customers. Peter says”I’m not
very tech savvy so we knew early on that we could do with
some help. So we recruited Chris from CotswoldXL on a
three months trial…”
A large Facebook following was quickly built from scratch
and Vegetable Matters communicated to their audience
updating the fast changing situation, often daily. A delivery
service was introduced and messages scurried backwards
and forwards across the Social Media platforms. Oddly it
became busier than ever but the indomitable Drinkwater’s’
and their team coped and won the admiration of their
customer base becoming veritable local hero’s.
Although far from ‘back to normal’ Vegetable Matters is
open for business with fresh vegetables being harvested
from the farm daily and the Café continuing to serve
delicious fresh food all within a Covid secure environment
with masks in the shop and table service in the Café and
of course oceans of sanitiser. The current situation has
shown that vegetable matters more than the Drinkwaters, or
anyone else for that matter, could have imagined.
