Featuring Kevin Stump Project Director with FAST Enterprises
• Tell us a little about yourself?
Originally from Florida, I joined the USAF at 17 and began my first career. In the Air Force I worked on Minuteman II
Missile Systems, FB-111 aircraft comm/nav systems and F15E aircraft avionics. I received promotion to CMSGT (E-9)
after 18 years and eventually retired from the USAF four years later. I stopped working for the USAF on November 3,
2000 and began working for FAST the following Monday November 6, 2000.
• As Project Director for the DRIVES project, what are some of your responsibilities?
My job as Project Director is really the easiest job on the whole team. I simply need to ensure everyone on the team has
everything they need to be productive. I believe every leader only needs to do three things for the people they manage:
Give them a job worth doing; Give them the tools, training, parts, and communication they need to do the job right,
and then ensure they get the rewards for a job well done.
• You relocate around the United States for long time periods as projects develop. What are some of the Pros and
cons of that? Where is the most interesting place you’ve been stationed?
I have been a nomad for many years. I am not sure what we will do when it comes time to settle in one place. My wife
comes from a military family, so she is very used to moving every few years. We see moving as a bonus. We see new
places and we meet many new people. With FAST, I completed the list of spending at least a night in all 50 states. With
FAST, I visited Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on business. With FAST I have made trips to New
Zealand and a few visits various Caribbean Islands to provide software demonstrations.
