Anti-Human Trafficking Legislation

   As January recognized Human Trafficking
   Awareness Month, new legislation
will make an effort to prevent human
   trafficking in Georgia.
The Governor and First Lady Marty Kemp
   introduced the Anti-Human Trafficking
Legislation on January 21st to create
new pathways for survivors and close
   loopholes in Georgia's sex offender
   registry and improper sexual contact
   code.
The DDS Agency legislation was also
included in First Lady Kemp's legislative package.
This proposal will impose a lifetime commercial driver's license (CDL)
ban if convicted of trafficking. In accordance with the U.S Department of
Transportation, DDS will revoke a person's CDL and permanently disqualify
the individual from driving a commercial vehicle if the person is convicted of
trafficking and used the commercial vehicle to commit the offense.

Commissioner Moore was one among many legislators and special guests that
joined Governor Brian Kemp and the First Lady for the announcement of the
   legislative measures.
