Our DDS Board of Directors monthly meeting was recently held at the Agricultural Education Center in Gilmer
County. The DDS Team was hosted by the Gilmer County Future Farmers of America (FFA) sponsors and students,
members of the Gilmer County Board of Education and Pilgrims.
Several DDS Board Members have long ties to the Ellijay area including part-time resident and Board Chairman
David Connell and Board Member Tony Guisasola, a farm owner and retired educator.
GA Speaker of the House David Ralston, who has championed many agricultural and public safety initiatives,
spoke to the group. He commended DDS for supporting our state’s agriculture industry by testing and licensing
commercial drivers to keep goods moving to market.
Commissioner Moore was a member of FFA as a student and knows the valuable experience, life lessons and
leadership skills that these young people are obtaining. The DDS group received a tour of the impressive live-
stock facility, cannery and recently planted apple orchard from Gilmer County Young Farmer Coordinator Mike
Bushey and members of the FFA Chapter.
