BLUE SKIES Backpackers - Funky garden, with
plenty of inspiration!
Set on the outskirts of the small Grahamstown airfield is Blue Skies Backpackers.
It has a quirky garden filled with recycled jugs, pots of flowers and old grey-toned
wooden sculptures. It is an artist’s garden, and an upcyler’s dream with everything
from cars, skulls and old paraffin lamps adding to the garden’s charm. There are old
steering wheels, succulents and air bromeliads sharing wall space. Why not look it up
on Tripadvisor before you go, as visitors have described it as a paradise... and
hopefully it won’t be too long before we will be allowed to travel again, and a little
inspiration is all we need. Text by S.C & Photos by Sean Haydock, the Garden’s designer
