Fun question. Who was your favorite cartoon character growing up
and would you ever change their hairstyle? I didn’t watch too many cartoons growing up, mainly because I have three older brothers who were always trying to expose me to adult movies, haha, but the cartoon I remember loving was “Daria” on MTV...she had this soccer mom haircut that was pretty lame-I think she would be so badass with a short, fun, textured haircut-it would def give her an edge and would be
really fun to do.
What are your goals/ dreams for the future? My goal is always to con- tinue to build a clientele, there’s always room for more and new clients. As the years pass the goal is usually to increase your profits by either opening up a shop, or becoming a platform artist, or company rep. I will definitely cut hair as long as my body allows me to, but eventually, I would like to get into the business side.
What would you say has changed in the industry since you started as a barber? Barbers are taking way more risks in terms of creativity with their haircuts...they’re trying to learn color for short hairstyles, the designs are definitely on another level, and barbers are also trying to become more familiar with their use of shears rather than just being familiar with the clippers. Of course, social media has gotten even bigger than it was a few years ago, so a lot of new tools and accessories that make it more conve- nient for our craft are being created and implemented.
