Dear Forever Family
On our bookshelf is a book by Rowan Williams called Being Disciples. In it he writes:
"...so many great disciples of Jesus across the history of the Christian Church - and indeed now - find themselves in the company of people they would never have imagined being with, had they
not been seeking to be where Jesus is..."
John, in his
gospel, says
that Jesus is
always close
to the
Father's heart. And the Father's heart is always for the people of the world. So it makes sense that if we want to find Jesus, and be where He is, and work where He is working, then we only have to look at the person across from us.
Whether that's family, a neighbour, a person on the bus,
or across the waiting room, if you can look into the eyes of another, or share the same space with them, then you can guarantee that Jesus is there too.
We often talk about Jesus being with us, and remind ourselves that even when we are just two or three, Jesus is there amongst us.
But as believers we don't have sole rights to Jesus' company or His loving work in our lives.
And just like His mission statement from Luke 4, and many other places in the Bible, we are also called to free the captives, look after the poor and the vulnerable and many other selfless acts towards other human beings.
