I`m sure during these lockdown times we have all been creative in doing activities to stimulate our minds and bodies, I’ve seen many great ideas on our
Facebook S.A Fellowship page from sewing to drawing to baking. I`ve returned to my sketch pad, done loads of Lego, but the thing I have enjoyed the most has been playing my cornet.
Early in lockdown I decided it was time to sort my “chops” out or to give its technical name my embouchure for playing the cornet, because over the years I have picked up some bad habits, and was advised to try a book called “Systematic approach to daily practice,” it’s like having a P.E. teacher for the cornet, but over the months it seems to be working and Caroline says she can tell the difference (I`m not sure if that’s good or bad).
I`ve played all types of music which has been great fun. I have also been spiritually blessed and challenged by some of the S.A. music, and this has made me feel closer to God. One piece which I have played over and over is a piece by John Larsson, beautiful music on its own, but the words by John Gowans have been very challenging. The piece is called “Love Cannot Fail” from the musical “Spirit”. Here are a few of
Glenn Rands
If I could understand the hidden mysteries of life,
If I could know the secrets all men seek,
If I could know the reason why the world is what it is,
Why every human being is unique Unless I knew the love of God, The all-embracing love of God, Unless I knew the love of God,
I would know nothing.
One of my favourite verses from the Bible is John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”.
This song reminds me so much of these words “Whoever” means you and me Wow! That’s awesome.
As we approach this Easter let us think once again of that outpouring of Love that Jesus gave for us that first Easter.
God Bless Glenn
