CONWY DISABLED ARCHERY
So far this year has been incredibly successful for us and our club members.
We have reached our Ribbon Award and are waiting for the certificate from Disability Sport Wales!
One of our Visually Impaired archers took part in her first competition against sighted archers and came home with a silver medal. Well done Bethan you worked really hard to get where you are.
We have run an archery session for Parkinson’s North Wales which went really well and every one enjoyed themselves.
Help4Heroes asked if we would run sessions for them. After an initial meeting
and setting up the paper work and access to the booking area, we ran a six
week session. We gave a really warm welcome to Peter who joined us at the
end of the course. Peter now has the ambition and goal of competing at the next Invictus games.
With a new grant from CVSC Conwy for extra targets and equipment we are heading in the right direction. A huge thank you to the grants team who have assisted us through the grant application and for updating a few of our governance documents.
We took part in an Insport session which was a real success. Everyone enjoyed the archery and I hope we are going to have a few more archers join us in the near future.
Our Coach Nick Kershaw has recently attended the 2nd International Congress of Archery Coaches learning from some of the best archery coaches in the world, subject matter on offer was progressing Para Archers, motivational Coaching and Transforming Sports Leadership. Nick will be starting his Lvl 3 Archery GB Coaching Course in the near future, I’m sure the County of Conwy
will benefit from having one of the very few County Coaches in Wales.
