HAMDDEN GWLEDIG / RURAL LEISURE
SUMMER HOLIDAY SPORTS SESSIONS AND MORE!
Conwy’s leisure development team ran football camps, mountain biking and sports sessions during the school summer holidays.
With over 300 children taking part each week in Rural Conwy, Llanrwst FC in the Community have been supporting the sessions to encourage young players to join the club.
CYCLE TRAINING FOR PRIMARY SCHOOLS

ALN GROUPS
Weekly sessions have been taking place in Ysgol Gogarth using the adapted bikes at the school including teacher training to make the most use of the equipment.
The team have also been engaging with Canolfan Addysg Conwy to develop outdoor sessions. Within the sessions the group have learnt how to clean and maintain bikes. In addition the group learnt map reading using the local Gwydir trails in Llanrwst and mountain biking specific skills.
Frankey, 14 from Colwyn Bay,:
“I like the sessions because it lets me go out into the hills and ride the bikes up hard trails.”
Over 400 year 5 and 6 pupils have received Cycle Training since July 2023 this year. Conwy is the only authority in North Wales to hold the ‘Bikeability’ accreditation. The scheme is delivered to all primary schools in Conwy. Trainees have been learning the Highway Code, riding positions on the road and general bike checks and safety.
ELECTRIC BIKES
The leisure team have been running the weekly E-bike Friday sessions in Llanrwst. Riders of all abilities have the opportunity to develop their biking knowledge and experience with our fully qualified staff.
