Over the past couple years, Roscoe has imparted to us knowledge of the roads only known to locals.
After dropping our packs at the hotel and a quick lunch, we were all geared up to hit the curves.
The rst stop was Highway 23 aka the Pig Trail. This is one of the most famous roads in the Ozarks; the route runs 75 miles each direction, but you will never be on a 4-lane road and on a Friday afternoon traf c is non-existent. As we head out of town, the tires warm up for the curves ahead. Our rst timer, John, was in awe of the vistas and river beds at the four of us cruised the countryside. Then Scott, our leader with the V1, gave out the call on the radio, there’s the sign- crooked and steep for the next 7 miles. Entering the Pig Trail national forest, the real fun begins. As we climb the Ozark Mountains to 1700 feet, the curves got
tighter and faster leading us into “posted” 10mph hard 90 degree turns then right back up to a “50 mph” sweeper. Once we came out of the forest, it was time to turn around and do it all over again in the opposite direction. Fun all over again!
After 150 miles on the trail, plus the drive down from KC, it was time to call it a day and meet up with the other members of the club back at the convention center for libations and fellowship.
Saturday
Remember Highway 123? Well, today was the day. As per our tradition, the rst stop of the day is to visit our friend Roscoe at his coffee shop just down the street from the hotel.
