We arrived in Frankfurt an hour ahead of schedule, so we had lots of time to kill before our Intercity-Express (ICE) train to Stuttgart. Time for pretzels! The train ride took about 80 minutes and the Hauptbahnhof was just across the street from our hotel. We strolled around Stuttgart, stopped in a bakery for more pretzels, and back to the hotel for a cool beer.
The following morning, a taxi delivered us to Porsche Werks 1, the new delivery location, which was the original Porsche plant. It was a neat old building. It’s a very nice smaller German town without being too touristy.
Our next stop was Nordlingen. The old town is built in a 15 million year old meteor crater. We spent some time in the Reis Crater Museum and then were off to Neuburg an der Donau on the back roads and improved goat trails. Lots of trucks and an occasional tractor made it slow going. Our path to the Gasthaus included many narrow streets that looked more like
