BOYS AND TOYS
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MEN AND BOYS IS THE PRICE OF THEIR TOYS

We all have collectibles whose personal value way outweighs their monetary cash value. It could be
an old family Bible that has been handed down generation after generation. It could be a trophy you won in high school. Or it could be as simple as a toy.
For Christmas this year, I received a wonderful book; A Man & His Car by Matt Hranek. It is the follow up to his first book; A Man & His Watch. And in this case, yes, you can judge a book by its cover.
Matt’s watch-book is a collection of short stories. It is less about
the man and even less about the manufacturing of the watch, but more about the relationship or how the man attained the watch. Mario Andretti talks about the time he was given a Heuer Autavia for winning the 1967 Indianapolis 500. Ralph Lauren talks about buying a Cartier,
when he finally felt like he made it big. Famous watches. Famous men. The stories go on for 200 easy to read pages or so.
I have only cracked the cover of Matt’s second book. However, I can already tell it is full of the same special insight between man and an object, and in this case – wonderful cars.
