and out, probably getting Stan an extra 2 mph in top end thanks to the reduced weight. My plan to remain above the fray because I left my reading glasses at home was thwarted by Fred and so I spent my time cleaning and clear coating the brake calipers, restoring them to an almost factory-like nish. This project was covered a few years ago in an earlier issue of Der Sportwagen and I recommend it for anyone whose calipers are looking worn. The red calipers are “Ford Red” if you’re so inclined. Just be sure to get a heat resistant clear coat or they will end up looking much worse than when you began and are a real pain to repair.
After lunch, changing the exhaust system was rather anti-climactic. Fred, Stan, and T spent their time under the car while Tim, Ray, and I continued our earlier efforts.
There were no surprises and after a quick check for uninstalled parts, Stan and T went for a test drive, pronouncing the project a roaring success. Not a bad way to spend six hours on a Saturday morning waiting for the KU game to start. Plus, Porsche made a great showing at Sebring, eventually nishing 1-3 in GTLM.
