 pace so that everyone would feel comfortable.
Directly after the first round on the track, we went into our first classroom session and discussed how that first round felt and what we would be learning and working on for
the rest of the day. We were encouraged to watch as many of the other groups’ laps as possible, especially the CUP cars, to see how they drove the track.
This was the pattern for
the rest of the day and also for Sunday; drive several laps, then class time, then watch other drivers, and back out on the track again.
Matthew, my Instructor, broke the track down and how to drive it for me in a very concise and easy to understand way. He kept me relaxed and supported me throughout each
“AS IF GOD WAS IN MY EAR”
 drive. As an added teaching
tool, the instructors provided communication systems that you slipped inside of your helmet. This let you could talk back
and forth as you were driving the course. I teased him that I had “god” in my ear telling me what to do. We both had a great laugh over that. Needless to
say, we laughed a lot as I was

Angie and her instructor Mathew both drove Minis during the Driver’s Education part of the weekend
driving. Matthew’s voice is still in my head: “accelerate, brake
- brake - brake, bend into the curve, accelerate, look for the ribbons, brake– brake – brake, bend it, accelerate!” Okay,
there were a few early ones of - “Brake – Brake - harder - Harder - HARDER” - before I got the
