event has been recognized international- ly as an event that should not be missed if you are a car fanatic. The efforts by Bill Warner and his committees are stun- ning.
One of the many events that is on the schedule annually is the Porsche Driv- ing Experience. The information given led a person to believe that this is a must attend event. Attending this event in 2017 was not to be denied. This was a venture that had tested my conscience for months. Test 1...taking a dyed in the wool Chevrolet/Corvette fanatic to a Porsche event! Test 2....missing the Werks Reunion that I had registered for months in advance!
Hotel where the concours is held. Enter- ing the grounds where we were to park, the  rst thing that caught our eye was 6 models of Porsche in a semicircle. Each of the cars was painted a stunning blue! Included in this display of our favorite automobile was the newly redesigned Panamera. It was the attention getter of those cars displayed.
We were instructed to go to the regis- tration area to get our information for the day. We were greeted warmly by many from Porsche and others that were work- ing for Porsche for the day. Everyone wanted us to have the best day possible!
Cliff and I really bene ted from arriv- ing early. We had our goody bags and proceeded to look at the new cars and watched in amazement at the variety of Porsches in attendance. Along with the Porsches, we had a amazing display of other manufacturers’ automobiles. Ev- eryone attending was excited to be par- ticipating in this event.
We had been assigned to a group that we would be with throughout the day. 50 registrants and their guests made up a group. There were four groups, so the popularity speaks for itself. Our  rst venture was to go to the Brumos Museum for a private tour. We entered through their maintenance garage and were allowed to take all the photos we wanted. This was a treat to see some of

Early Friday morning Cliff Payne, my Corvette friend since 1973, and I left his home in Jacksonville, Florida. Cliff lives on the St. Johns River and is merely minutes from Amelia Island. Our drive began as the sun was coming up over the Atlantic Ocean. Nice cool salty air drift- ed with us as we passed in and out of the tree covered areas of the road.
