5.Term Design Project
Location : Astara, Iran
Professor : Dr. Akrami This project involved designing an elementary school with 12 classrooms situated in
Partner : None Astara, a city in northern Iran, and marked my second studio design project. Our
objectives included determining the optimal orientation of the building and devising the
most suitable entrance considering the four surrounding streets. Additionally, we needed to
address the challenge of intense sunlight while ensuring each classroom received the
correct amount of natural light. To address this issue, I proposed the use of adjustable
wooden panels resembling curtains for the windows.
The school comprises four floors: the ground floor houses the main entrance, student
bathrooms, lockers, and an auditorium; the first floor consists mostly of regular
classrooms, the library, and arts and science classes; the main floor accommodates the
remaining six classrooms; and finally, the top floor is dedicated to the school's principal
and other staff offices, a conference room, and a teachers' resting area.
