OC Wings Foreword
This year has been challenging, a word that perhaps
under plays the significance that Covid-19 has had not
only on the Greater Manchester Wing but the country
as a whole, as we look back over the months since that
fateful day of the 19th March when the country came to
a standstill and lock-downs were imposed across the
UK. The inventive minds and technology came together
to create the VPN (Virtual Parade Night) these have been operating throughout the
pandemic to ensure that both staff and cadets have been able to still operate and
function delivering training and information updates on where we are.
Being an MOD sponsored organisation is our biggest strength but also can be our
greatest weakness and this has been a frustration on the run up to restarting Face 2
Face training and restarting Squadron life. The Staff and cadets have ,through this
period rose to the occasion and kept the flag flying although at times it has been
testing.
My sincere thanks and gratitude
goes out to all members of Greater
Manchester Wing for the hard and
sustained effort that all have
shown in this dark time. We will
come through it and will be
stronger as we move forward,
things may not be the same, we
will make best use and overcome
the many obstacles that may block
our path, the way we do things
may change and the Covid-19 may
be a legacy that we have to carry
for months or even years to come,
but we will get there rest assure,
we will get there together.
